Thoughts Changed To Budgets

The third quarter of 2014 is midway complete, and it’s about this time when thoughts turn to budgets for the following year. Yet while budgets are important, I can’t stress enough how safety should be on the forefront of your mind, as well.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is increasing its watch on the electrical industry, and there are certain items your company should be focusing on. One item in particular is electrical safe work programs.

How is your company protecting its employees; through personal protective equipment (PPE) or training? Did your company have a formal arc flash assessment completed this year, or did you perform an annual infrared scan to seek issues you can’t see with the naked eye? Are your emergency procedures in place? Are your employee’s CPR certifications or AED trainings up-to-date? These are just a few thoughts to consider as you start planning for 2015.
