Darlington Middle School

DARLINGTON MIDDLE SCHOOL

Rome, GA

Project Size:

54,000 square feet

Project Overview:

Darlington School is a coeducational day and boarding school established in 1905. The private school utilized a 3rd party LEED consultant and commissioning agent and built a middle school that became LEED Silver certified. The school's design finishes and overall feel are intended to establish a new campus standard for all new buildings planned in the future.

In addition to the standard electrical work, Faith Technologies was responsible for the installation of an Integrated Classroom Lighting System (ICLS) that was manufactured by Finelite. This system has plug-and-play lighting control, utilizing Category 5 patch cables to connect the occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, and wall control stations to the overhead lighting. The system provides energy savings via dimming and automatic shut-off and quickly pays for itself with the installation labor savings, and is a far simpler system than conventional lighting control. It made achieving LEED credits for lighting control and energy savings very easy.

Faith Technologies’ scope of work was also the installation of a Class B free air fire alarm system. Our tasks were to install all of the fire alarm cable and devices, mount all of the fire alarm panels, and assist with the fire alarm system commissioning.
