Faces of Faith Technologies | Meet Ben, Foreman
At Faith Technologies, we have some amazing employees who make our culture unique. The Faces of Faith Technologies series aims to highlight the talented individuals who work with us. Each month, we’ll introduce you to several of these individuals so you can get to know the ‘Faces of Faith Technologies.’ We recently talked to Ben Cook, a Foreman from Madison, WI. Here’s what he had to say:
What led you to work for Faith Technologies?
I was in a pre-apprenticeship course at Moraine Park Technical College and a Faith Project Manager came to share more about the organization and the career opportunities. I was currently working at a manufacturing company that had offered me a position as an electrician upon completion of my courses. They didn’t offer an apprenticeship program, so I came to Faith to go through their program and eventually become a Journeyman.
How has your position changed over time?
When I started as a Helper, I spent a lot of time learning from a Journeyman. I worked in the Madison area for around three years. After that I started traveling with my first large long-term travel project. I learned a lot throughout that project and got an opportunity to take on a scope of work under a Superintendent. When that work was completed, I moved into what I’m currently doing for commissioning.
What does your position entail?
We are currently working on commissioning a project site. We receive daily energization lists. I get crews ready and we energize and test installed equipment.
What are some of your favorite things about your job?
I like seeing the end of a project. We built the building and now we get to turn it on, test it and see how our hard work turned out. I like knowing we created a quality product and signing off on it. I also like working alongside of the other employees onsite.
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?
I like to get out and golf whenever I can. I have been traveling for Faith for the past four years, and when we were in Utah, I was able to snowboard. It was a nice opportunity snowboarding on the weekends.
Are there any personal accomplishments you would like to share?
I am pretty proud I was able to earn my Foreman classification. I’ve been running crews for awhile, and I am happy to be recognized.
What’s your why?
My why is my family and being able to provide for them.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Eventually, we’d like to settle down, buy a house and have kids. Right now, we are happy with our lifestyle. Hopefully life will take us back to Wisconsin permanently in the next few years.
