• A Foundation for Success – When I joined FTI as an apprentice, I was thrilled to embark on a path that not only combined practical hands-on experience with traditional classroom instruction, but also paid a wage throughout. This “earn while you learn” approach was so valuable for me in my journey as I was young, married, had a mortgage to pay and couldn’t imagine putting us into the kinds of debt college could bring. The apprenticeship program provided me with a solid foundation in the specialty systems trade, equipping me with valuable skills and industry-specific expertise.
• From Technician to Educator – After completing my apprenticeship, I continued to grow within the company, working as a specialty systems technician. This role allowed me to hone my technical and leadership skills, troubleshoot complex issues and contribute to the successful completion of various projects across the country. During this time, I developed a passion for teaching and was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to become an instructor for FTI’s apprenticeship classes.
• Building the Future – For the next eight years, I was a member of FTI’s Talent Development department, where I immersed myself in the world of training and curriculum design. This role allowed me to utilize my experience and knowledge to create engaging and impactful learning experiences for our apprentices. I took pride in constructing state-of-the-art training labs and crafting comprehensive curriculum that prepared individuals for success in their respective roles.
• Embracing New Challenges – Driven by a desire for personal growth, I recently embraced a new opportunity as a preconstruction manager. This role challenges me to think strategically, collaborate with diverse teams and oversee the planning and coordination of projects from conception to execution. The transition showcased the trust and confidence that FTI places in its team members, empowering us to take on new challenges and grow professionally.
