Faces of Faith Technologies | Meet Casey, Electrical Helper

At Faith Technologies, we have some amazing employees who make our culture unique. The Faces of Faith Technologies series aims to highlight the talented individuals who work with us. Each month, we’ll introduce you to several of these individuals so you can get to know the ‘Faces of Faith Technologies.’ We recently talked to Casey Masiak, an electrical helper from Wisconsin currently located in Tennessee. Here’s what he had to say:

What led you to work for Faith Technologies?

My path to Faith was built on a career in law enforcement. I became a police officer when I was 20 years old, and for the last two years I was a drug recognition expert. I enjoyed being an officer, but it was not an easy role to be in, which led me to work in fugitive apprehension. I traveled the United States to find criminals with warrants and bring them back to Wisconsin or surrounding states, which was an exhausting challenge. The position began to take a toll on me, and during a 4th of July party, a close friend and Faith employee recommended I apply. I’ve always liked more hands-on work, so it seemed like it would be a good career path for me to pursue.

What does your position entail?

I’m an Integrated Projects Group (IPG) foreman, so my day-to-day involves project management and open communication across the site to ensure the project is completed safely and correctly. The client is remodeling buildings, so I oversee the progress of those buildings along with the excavation and lightning protection on the main site. In addition, I have an IPG utility crew of eight who perform site maintenance and other tasks as needed. There’s always something going on, so I’m never bored!

What are some of your favorite things about your job?

My career in law enforcement was fulfilling, but over time you can become jaded because you’re constantly exposed to the worst side of people. Working for Faith has given me a new perspective on humanity; seeing my co-workers help each other onsite and having a supervisor who’s invested in my success is inspiring.

The people I’m surrounded by have an upbeat attitude; even if you’re having a difficult day, there’s someone there to pick you up. This family mentality motivates me to come to work each day and reciprocate that support when I can.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?

During my free time I like to golf, duck hunt and watch college football. Golf is fantastic because it’s scenic, demands focus and some of the courses are historically significant. The Greystone in Dickson, TN and Erin Hills in Hartford, WI are my favorite courses to golf. In 2017, I was lucky enough to watch the US Golf Open at Erin Hills – an experience I’ll never forget!

Duck hunting is also something I love doing outside; I travel home and hunt Wisconsin’s bread-and-butter mallards in the bay of Green Bay. The area has a lot of diving ducks, and sometimes a wood duck will even pop up. Being a WI native, I should be a Badgers fan, but I’m a Louisville Cardinals die-hard!  When I was a kid, I was watching March Madness and got hooked on the Louisville team. I appreciate college football more than professional football because the students have something to play for, they fight harder and it’s just more action than professional games.

Do you enjoy working in Tennessee?

Yes, the southern way of life is more laid-back than the northern style, where everyone seems to rush. People still use “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am” down here, and being near the country music capital has its perks – I love country music and its culture! Garth Brooks is my favorite artist but I appreciate George Strait, as well.

What’s your why?

My family is at the center of my focus and motivation to stay safe and continue to succeed. We’re very close and keep a group text message going to stay in touch and coordinate being home during the holidays. Family means so much to me, and one day I’d also like to have a family of my own.
