Faces of Faith Technologies | Meet Pedro, Electrical Apprentice
At Faith Technologies, we have some amazing employees who make our culture unique. The Faces of Faith Technologies series aims to highlight the talented individuals who work with us. Each month, we’ll introduce you to several of these individuals so you can get to know the ‘Faces of Faith Technologies.’ We recently talked to Pedro Tristan, an electrical apprentice currently working in Oklahoma. Here’s what he had to say:
What led you to work for Faith Technologies?
I spent a few years working for my father’s small remodeling business, and during this time I was exposed to some basic electrical work. It sparked a passion for me that I wanted to pursue, so I joined an electrical program at Moore Norman Technology Center. Thanks to the mentorship of my instructor, Kevin Gunter, I excelled in the program and was able to gain employment at Faith.
What does your position entail?
My crew of four and I are working on the branch power and lighting for the building. We install, maintain and troubleshoot electrical installations, and are focused on finding ways to increase the efficiency of our tasks. This is the first time in my career I’ve been given the opportunity to lead others, and I enjoy learning more about my crew and growing as a leader.
What are some of your favorite things about your job?
I love coming to work because the environment is positive and those around me are dedicated to the success of the project. The leaders are willing to go the extra mile to help you and make sure you feel confident in what you’re working on.
What’s the most challenging part of your position?
Our customer is very particular about the standards they have, so we must be very focused on the details. This is difficult at times but helps to improve our standards and keep our skill sets high.
What are some of your interests and hobbies outside of work?
I go to the gym at least three times each week; my workouts are focused on conditioning and weight training. In addition to the gym, I love playing soccer! I’ve been playing soccer since I was six years old, and was an Oklahoma State champion during my junior year of high-school. Outside of my personal hobbies, I’m a devoted family man. I love my wife and two sons, and we spend a lot of time together. We go to local parks, stay involved with our church, and go on vacation a couple of times per year.
Are there any personal accomplishments you’d like to share?
When I was in high school, I placed in the top 3 at the Oklahoma SkillsUSA competition for the TeamWorks category. SkillsUSA is an organization catered to building students into leaders for the technical workforce, so I see this as an achievement that set me up for success professionally. Professionally, I’m studying for my journeyman’s test and hope to take it within six months. My wife and I are working to buy our first home, it’s been nerve-wracking, but we are excited for the outcome.
What’s your why?
My family and my children are my why. I want to provide for them and be able to enjoy more quality time with them.
