Faith Technologies Project Spotlight: Monroe Clinic

Monroe Clinic - croppedHealthcare facilities represent some of the most complex projects on the construction landscape, as they’re required to meet rigorous regulatory standards, and designed to stand out in a competitive marketplace. Monroe Clinic, located in Monroe, Wisconsin, was no exception.

The clinic’s four-story, 234,000 square foot northwest addition was staged floor-by-floor, starting in the lower level and moving up. The addition expands and replaces inpatient, diagnostic and support services next to the existing building, and has 57 acute and critical care beds, a new emergency department, imaging and surgical areas, and rehabilitation services. Support services include a kitchen and cafeteria, central sterile processing, materials management, and satellite biomedical and information technology services.

Faith Technologies’ scope of work included the electrical, lighting, power systems, fire alarm systems, voice and data systems, and security. We installed over 4,600 feet of 24-strand single and multi-mode fiber, 3,500 feet of 48-strand fiber, more than 630,000 feet of Category 6 copper, over 50 miles of conduit, and over 225 miles of wiring.

This project featured complete MEP coordination, so communication was essential. The effective use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) also played an integral role. The software used provided a dynamic, real-time platform, allowing everyone to collaborate and relay important information to the architect, engineer, owner, and facility manager at every stage of construction.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) principles were utilized throughout this project, and Monroe Clinic is now one of less than 100 certified LEED healthcare facilities in the country, and 20-30% more energy efficient than the previous hospital.

Monroe Clinic was recently added to the Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin Projects of Distinction list, an award program that recognizes the most distinct construction projects in Wisconsin, as a Gold Level winner in the general construction – Green Building Practices category. It was an honor to be recognized for our hard work on this project, and a privilege to be part of this hardworking project team.
