The Latest in our Automation Engineering Journey

As an organization that is consistently growing and innovating, Faith Technologies places a high value on continuous improvement – of our systems, our processes and our people. Faith Technologies’ Innovation Center Automation Lab has an Augmented Operator Advisor (AOA) demonstration that has been improved upon to become an even more robust interactive tool.

AOA is a leading-edge augmented reality (AR) tool that will continue to be seen more frequently in the industrial workplace. Working with our industry partner, Schneider Electric, and their EcoStruxure™ AOA platform, our AOA development team has continued to add to their skills necessary to fully implement it. Our in-house demonstration shows how AOA can provide access to real-time data typically used in a variety of environments by maintenance and operations personnel. In the image on this page, AOA is shown accessing real-time data from the power meter. Other options can also be seen, such as the procedure list for lock-out/tag-out (LOTO).

The AOA demo also shows how it can safely and securely access documents and videos, and it can even use the Internet as a data source. The demo also shows off AOA’s ability to create documented procedure lists. A procedure list guides the user step by step through a specific process, and when those steps are completed, records the user’s data and the procedure that was followed.

A second AOA demonstration is now in development at the Bubolz Nature Preserve in Appleton, Wis. This demo will take advantage of the multiple data sources involved with their on-site microgrid, which was developed by Faith Technologies and Schneider Electric, and provide support for the maintenance programs in place at the preserve. Using AOA as a maintenance tool is truly a game changer, and this application is expected to be one of the earliest implementations in an industrial environment.

Not only are the demonstrations improving and the team’s capabilities becoming more finely tuned, but Schneider Electric continues to add features to the product. The next major release, expected to be available in the next couple of months, will introduce a phone app and a breakthrough feature enabling remote support.

Faith Technologies’ AOA team is also developing a mobile unit to enable us to bring demonstrations directly to our clients. We look forward to showing you what our systems can do!
