Faith Technologies Receives Three Excellence in Construction Awards From the Associated Builders & Contractors Heart of America Chapter

Menasha, Wis. (March 30, 2010) – The Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) Heart of America Chapter has awarded Faith Technologies, a full-service electrical and specialty systems contractor, with three 2009 Excellence in Construction Awards.

BNSF Wheel Truing Facility, Kansas City, Kan., won an Excellence in Construction Award in the Electrical Industrial under $250,000 category. The project involved construction of a new building adjacent to active train tracks to house an automated wheel machining system. Faith Technologies self-performed all facets of the electrical installation, including PLC system automation wiring, HVAC controls and rail door interlocking.

The BNSF Wheel Truing project was also recognized as a national ABC Excellence in Construction Award winner. Both Faith Technologies and the project’s General Contractor, Grimm Construction, were honored at the national award ceremony held in San Diego, Calif.

Trigen 2400V Switchgear Fire Damage Rebuild/Repair, Kansas City, Mo., won an Excellence in Construction Award in the Electrical Industrial $250,000 – $750,000 category. Faith Technologies worked to rebuild a 1950’s vintage section of Trigen’s 2400V switchgear utilizing custom-machined components, replacing items, which were damaged in the fire. Faith Technologies functioned as both the construction manager and electrical installer coordinating the efforts of engineering, sheet metal and general construction subcontractors to complete the complicated rebuild effort.

Water One Facility 3 – 15KV Feeder to Missouri River Intake, Kansas City, Kan., won an Excellence in Construction Award in the Electrical Industrial over $750,000 category. The project required construction of a two-mile concrete encased conduit duct bank that was routed under an existing stream, highway and railroad track. BRB Construction, Topeka, Kan., performed the civil construction work and contracted with Faith Technologies for the duct bank, 15KV circuit installation and associated high voltage termination and testing.

The Excellence in Construction Awards Program recognizes the most distinct construction projects in the region. Project entries are evaluated by an independent panel of construction experts and winning projects are eligible for entry in ABC’s National Excellence in Construction Awards Program.
